These three young Japanese males talk about how blogs are a fast growing internet social network. Though, however fast these internet social networks are growing they still tend not to connect blogs to their communties. According to their research they are able to combine blog rankings with each of their social connections in order to provide a simple basis for different communities in various blog spaces. The research is shown in many different forms such graphs, histograms, and other such formats.

 The three boys think that using blogs are vital to get communities to get together but i think that because there are so many other different ways such as MSN Messenger, Facebook, Yahoo Messenger, Skype and so on this doesn’t really make a difference. Communities will automatically then come together. According to the boys “by visualizing the blogspace as a social network of bloggers, various techniques provided by social network research communities can be introduced.” I think that as much as that maybe be true it can also be untrue. My question is what if they didn’t want to get to know each other. They don’t have to want to they might want to get online to meet other people from many other different places around the world.

In conclusion I think the article is okay to look at but nothing too great to look into further detail.

The blog is written by a lady who is technologically challenged and finds it extremely difficult to use the computer in general. She has no idea what the Internet is and what e-mails are. She asked her colleagued at work for some help to start up with things and this way they introduced her into using a blog. Using this blog she has learnt so many new things especially how to use the world wide web which is essential. A lot of people may think that it is easy to use but for some people in the older generation it maybe a little bit more difficult.

She then begins to define a blog and this is what she came up with ” A blog allows people around the world access to your musings and the ability to add their own. Your musings can become a catalyst to discussion with anyone, anywhere, who has access to a computer.”

 Froust then begins to give some positives and negatives regarding the topic. She closes up by talking about blogs in schools.

Strengths and Weaknessess

• Blogs are set to be useful because anywhere at anytime you can right notes in chornological order and it will come up to you in reverse order
• Blogs provide us about various different things ranging from sports commentaries up to news of different subjects
• Blogs can contain many differents things which can be both an advantage and dissavantage. Things such as pictures, profiles, texts, links to other blogs, videos etc..
• Most blogs are written although there are some using pictures, videos and artistic things
• It is reported more then 106million blogs on the World Wide Web
• Blogs first came along in 1994
• In the recent past blogs have become increasingly popular because it is a very simple and easy way to post things on the net and for yourself or anybody else to quickly have a read or a look at it

Strengths and Weaknesses

• Facebook, Friendster, Myspace etc can be useful because it allows people to share personal things about themselves.
• They allow the world to connect onto it and meet and add different friends they know or have known in the past to talk to, chat with and find out about each other.
• They have certain security setting which can be breached to those who are more advanced using computers.
• According to Scott Karp who has connected his Twitter, Facebook and Google Reader together using Publishing 2.0 he claims that the same blog post were found in each of the different sources more then once.
• Nearly every blog post on these sources are imported or taken of or copied from somewhere else.
• On top of that Karp states that his email account is now full due to notifications from Facebook and Twitter.
• Karp claims that all these extra applications are meant to make us people more efficient when in reality what they are doing is making us more inefficient.
• A major point that he points out is that all these applications make us look very superficial and really only demonstrate the fact that we can connect with other people rather then enhance the user experience.
• According to Peter Brantley he claims that in an SCI meeting Scholarly Communications Insitute he met up with several grad students young adults and so on. He claims the only way the say in touch is because at the spur of the moment one of them brought up facebook and since then they only claim to keep in contact through a SCI group they had created on the spot
